When Jake Waters selects a college Thursday, he will do so as a first-team All-American.
The former Council Bluffs St. Albert quarterback was one of five Iowa Western Community College football players who earned first-team juco All-America honors on Wednesday from the NJCAA. Waters will make his college choice known at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Hoover Hall on the Iowa Western campus.
Junior college football players aren’t able to sign national letters of intent until Dec. 19.
Joining Waters from the national champions on the All-America first team were wide receiver Deon Long, offensive lineman Dallas Hinkhouse, kicker Lance Irvin and defensive lineman Devon Nash.
Second-team honors went to running back Aaron Wimberly and linebacker Terrell Porter. Picking up honorable mention honors were offensive lineman Mike Smithburg, defensive back Isaiah Johnson and return specialist Devin Thomas, a former Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln star.
