KEARNEY — A Gibbon man died after a two-vehicle crash Monday night east of Kearney.
Kermit Keller, 71, died when his 1994 Ford Ranger collided with the back of a 2000 Kenworth semitrailer that had slowed to turn north into a private drive about two miles east of Kearney, said Capt. Chris Kolb of the Nebraska State Patrol in Grand Island.
Keller apparently failed to notice that the truck, driven by Gary Larsen, 63, of Kearney, had slowed to turn. Both vehicles were eastbound on U.S. Highway 30.
Larsen was uninjured. Keller was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, where he died.
The accident happened about 6:05 p.m. Kolb said Highway 30 was closed for at least two hours.
