Rockbrook Camera offers families a way to make holiday memories while also supporting a good cause. The business collects $10 donations for Goodfellows, in lieu of sitting fees, for its annual Portraits with Santa.
“It's a lot easier than the mall and goes to a good cause,” said Jennifer Krafels. She took daughters Elliott Munstermann, 3½, and Emmalyn Munstermann, 1½, for photos Saturday.
Portraits with Santa has become a Rockbrook Camera tradition, said Tina Marie Crnic, one of the event's photographers. This is the 21st year for the event.
“They come in from little babies and now they're all grown,” Crnic said.
Last year the family-run business donated $1,000 to Goodfellows through the event. The owners have said the company chose Goodfellows because it addresses so many local causes.
The World-Herald's charity offers emergency assistance throughout the year and grocery vouchers at Christmastime.
Two more sittings are planned this week at the 168th Street and West Center Road store: Tuesday and Thursday, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
Goodfellows provides assistance to thousands of families each year. It has raised and distributed nearly $10 million since 1945. With The World-Herald paying all administrative costs, every dollar donated to Goodfellows goes directly to disadvantaged families – helping them with one-time urgent needs, providing holiday meals and providing funds for clothing, shoes and coats.
