Omaha police are investigating a double homicide that occurred Sunday near 40th and Lake Streets.
Officer Michael Pecha, a spokesman for the police department, said two people were found dead in a building at 4010 Grant St. Police went to the scene about 2:30 p.m. after a receiving a report of someone down.
The victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Police didn't immediately release how the victims were killed.
A woman at the scene said both victims are Hispanic males, including her sister's 47-year-old fiance. The woman, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said her sister went to the building to pick up her fiance prior to a birthday party and discovered the homicide scene.
The woman said the building, formerly home to Western Outdoor Advertising, now houses Genuine Auto Body. She said her sister's fiance moved his business to the building about a year ago after his shop at 2620 Y St. was destroyed by fire.
The woman who discovered the bodies was taken to Police Headquarters to be interviewed.
The two deaths raise Omaha's homicide count for 2012 to 37.
