McFoster's reopening celebration
The new owners of McFoster's Natural Kind Cafe are having a grand reopening celebration this weekend complete with food, live music, art and giveaways.
Kelly and Chris Johnson bought the restaurant earlier this year from longtime owners Tom Foster and Mary McGranaghan.
Events include select free appetizers for every table of diners all day long, fruit smoothie samples, McFoster's gift certificate giveaways, a giveaway for a free dinner for two and hourly prize giveaways.
Live music will run from noon until 11:30 p.m. in the restaurant's second-floor performance space. The party takes place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. The restaurant is at 302 S. 38th St.
Two new beers for Empyrean Brewing Co.
Lincoln-based Empyrean Brewing Co. is releasing two new beers for the new year.
Their Chocolate Stout is the first of a new limited line called Carpe Breweum. The stout is roasted with hints of chocolate and closes with a dry finish. The chocolate character comes from all-natural raw cacao nibs added to the brew.
Winter Axis Festiv'Ale is the brewery's winter seasonal. Brewed each year with a new recipe, this year's ale is a fresh take on a traditional Belgian Abbey Ale and has a deep gold color with an aroma of fresh biscuits and ripe fruit.
Both are available now through the end of the year.
