NORTH PLATTE — A North Platte man was nearly speared in the head by a metal pole when it rolled off a trash truck and crashed through his windshield.
Roland Kramer, chief deputy for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, said the incident happened at 7:13 a.m., when Anthony Vigil, 42, was driving west on Front Street and was passing a Schaben Sanitation truck, driven by Laurence Naranjo, 56. Kramer said the pole and a rolled-up tarp attached to it fell off the top of the truck. It crashed into the windshield of Vigil’s pickup and through the back of the cab.
Kramer said Vigil suffered a cut to his head.
