A man who is accused of opening fire inside a car last week was arrested Wednesday, Omaha police said.
Randy M. Walker, 31, was charged in a warrant with first-degree felony assault, use of a gun to commit a felony and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Aaron Whitehill, 30, of Bellevue was shot twice in his upper body and crashed the 1987 Ford Crown Victoria he was driving into a retaining wall and fence.
Whitehill told officers he was driving in the area of 49th and Q Streets on Nov. 19 when he was flagged down by a man who said he needed a ride. After getting into the vehicle, Walker began firing a gun.
Officers said Whitehill was expected to survive, though his condition Wednesday was not clear.
