The Elkhorn and Kearney school districts have been named to the third annual Advanced Placement District Honor Roll for increasing student access to Advanced Placement courses while increasing the percentage of students earning college credit-worthy scores of three or higher on AP exams.
The two districts are among 539 in 44 states and parts of Canada named to the list by the College Board, which administers the program. The Adel DeSoto Minburn Community Schools in Adel, Iowa, west of Des Moines, also made the list.
The Elkhorn district has added AP statistics, Spanish and world history since last year. Since 2010, the district has increased the number of students participating in AP courses from 156 to 267 while improving the percentage of students earning AP exam scores of three or more by 5 percent.
