NORFOLK, Neb. — A married couple was taken into custody early Saturday after a shooting at a downtown bar.
The victim, a male, was shot in the mouth at Club Hollywood, said Capt. Michael Bauer of the Norfolk Police Department. The man, whose name was not released, was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa, Bauer said.
Police arrested Jordan Beehn, 28, of Madison, Neb., in connection with the shooting. Authorities found a .40 Glock handgun and ammunition in Beehn’s pickup truck, said Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger.
Also taken into custody was Beehn’s wife, Kelly Beehn, 25, Unger said.
The Beehns were leaving Club Hollywood, 117 S. Third St., about 1 a.m. when Kelly Beehn reportedly got into an altercation with another woman.
Bauer said a man was trying to break up the fight when Jordan Beehn struck him with his gun. When the man turned around, Jordan Beehn allegedly shot him.
Sheriff’s deputies pursued Beehn’s speeding pickup on Highway 24 west of Stanton.
Unger said the eastbound pickup suddenly turned south onto a county road. Beehn lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the west ditch. He tried to drive out of the steep ditch.
Jordan Beehn was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, felony operation of a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, first-degree assault, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony and second-degree assault.
Bauer said Beehn was taken to the Norfolk city jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail. It was not clear if Kelly Beehn remained in custody.
