Sen.-elect Deb Fischer, R-Neb., named her chief of staff on Tuesday — Mike Hybl, who has been executive director of the Nebraska Public Service Commission since 2007.
Fischer will be sworn in during the first week of January, replacing Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., who is retiring.
Dustin Vaughan will serve as Fischer’s state director.
“I believe these hires will set the standard for what I expect from my staff,” Fischer said.
Hybl has been president of the Nebraska Trucking Association and director of government relations for Great Plains Communications.
He served as legal counsel from 1980 through 1998 for the Legislature’s Agriculture and Environment Committee, the Transportation Committee and Speakers William Nichol and Doug Kristensen.
Vaughan has served as legal counsel to the Transportation and Telecommunications Committee since 2007. Previously, he was an aide to Fischer in the Legislature.
