A Fremont teenager whose body was found in a wooded area died of an insulin overdose, authorities said Thursday.
The cause of death of Brandon R. Kamphaus, 16, was based on toxicology tests conducted during the autopsy, Fremont Police Chief Jeff Elliott said.
A police investigation determined that the teen, who had Type 1 diabetes, was not a victim of foul play.
Kamphaus was reported missing Sept. 28 when he did not show up at Fremont High School.
His body was discovered Sept. 30 northwest of Fremont and about a half-mile north of where his car was found.
