Conversation at Joslyn to be in Spanish
Joslyn Art Museum will conduct a gallery conversation in Spanish at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
Students in the advanced Spanish conversation class at the University of Nebraska at Omaha will lead the event with the theme of emotion and color highlighting artworks in Joslyn's permanent collection.
Admission is free.
Visitors should meet at the ConAgra Foods Atrium admissions desk at 11:30 a.m. for an introduction, then go up to the galleries for self-guided exploration. The students will be stationed at various paintings to talk about them in Spanish.
Santa's arrival to benefit kids museum
Westroads Mall's Santa Claus will arrive at 9 a.m. Saturday in the Food Court. Tickets, $5, can be purchased at ocm.org. Put the cursor on the Exhibits & Programs tab, then click on Special Events. Scroll down to the Santa event.
Tickets may not be available at the door. All proceeds will go to the Omaha Children's Museum.
The event will include a bubble show, take-home art projects, breakfast and a Santa-led caroling parade through the mall.
Creighton concert also a food drive
The Creighton University department of fine and performing arts will present “Celebrating the Season of Warmth and Joy,” a concert by the University Symphonic Band and Orchestra, at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Lied Education Center for the Arts, located at 24th and Cass Streets.
Admission is free with a canned food donation for the Siena-Francis House.
