Father, son fair after being hit by truck
A father and son were listed in fair condition Thursday after they were hit by a pickup truck during a hunting trip.
Bruce R. Proplesch, 48, of Shawnee, Kan., and his son Brandon R. Proplesch, 28, of Bakersfield, Calif., were injured about 6 p.m. Wednesday just south of Avoca, Neb.
Several hunters were inside a parked car below the crest of a hill on Van Dorn Street between 108th and 120th Streets. A westbound Chevrolet pickup driven by Benjamin J. Pope, 37, of Avoca came over the hill.
Pope spotted the parked vehicle on the roadway’s edge and steered to the right to avoid a collision, said Cass County Sheriff William Brueggemann.
As the pickup passed, it struck the father and son who were standing outside. They were taken to Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha with broken bones and other injuries. — Kevin Cole
