A woman suffering from chest pains and being driven to an Omaha hospital around midday Wednesday prompted a false alarm of sorts, authorities said.
A passer-by reported it as an abduction to Douglas County 911 emergency dispatchers, drawing numerous police cruisers in a pursuit.
The false pursuit by authorities went on for blocks through midtown Omaha, ending somewhere east of 69th and Dodge Streets between 11:30 a.m. and noon.
Reports to dispatchers indicated that the woman possibly was forced to drive east on Dodge Street while a man was “ducking down'' on the passenger side of the vehicle.
Another report indicated that the driver was running through red lights, passing other motorists and mouthing “help.''
