A new program to assist wounded veterans in the Omaha metropolitan area with snow removal will be in action this winter.
Mayor Jim Suttle, the Boy Scouts of America and the U.S. Marine Corps launched the Snow Corps program on Monday in an effort to use Boy Scout packs and troops as snow shovelers across Douglas and Sarpy Counties this winter.
Scouts enrolled in the program are given a map and a list of veterans' homes and become responsible to clear their sidewalks and driveways.
Veterans who want to sign up for the program should contact Craig Howell at 402-444-5000.
