An Omaha man was convicted Tuesday of first-degree murder and weapon use in the July 2011 slaying of 25-year-old Kristopher Winters.
Jurors deliberated about two hours before convicting Marqus Patton in the slaying. Patton and four others attempted to rob Winters, a marijuana dealer.
Winters resisted – and was shot in the neck.
Patton will be sentenced in January. He and two others are facing automatic life terms after being convicted under the felony murder law that holds accomplices accountable when someone dies during the commission of a robbery.
Two more codefendants – who cooperated with prosecutors – are still going through court.
