A man whose body was found inside an abandoned tavern died of smoke inhalation, the Omaha Fire Department said Thursday.
The cause of death of John J. Lucas Jr., 40, was based on preliminary autopsy results, the Fire Department said in a statement. Authorities are still awaiting toxicology results.
Lucas was found dead on the second floor of the former Mac's Tavern, 16th and Izard Streets. Firefighters were called to the burning building Tuesday morning.
