Departing Omaha Finance Director Pam Spaccarotella will remain at City Hall through the end of the year.
Mayor Jim Suttle's office had announced that Spaccarotella would leave her post on Thursday. But Aida Amoura, Suttle's spokeswoman, confirmed this week that she would stay on through Dec. 31.
Amoura said the city hasn't selected an interim director, and the end of the year can be a critical time in city government.
Spaccarotella was an associate vice president at Sarpy County-based trucking company Werner Enterprises before she came to the city in July 2009.
She said her decision to leave city government was something she considered for months. She said it had nothing to do with a flap over a $25,000 raise she received in August 2011 but that wasn't made public for months.
It could be difficult to find someone willing to take over the job right away. Suttle is up for re-election in the spring, which means it's possible that any appointee would be out of a job by the middle of next year.
