More than 100 people are registered to participate in a bodybuilding competition in Omaha on Saturday.
The 15th annual USA Pro Qualifier and Bluffs Classic is a “natural” event, which means the bodybuilders do not take steroids or hormone-based supplements.
“The nice thing about drug-free body building is anybody can do it through strict dieting and discipline,” said Shain, the event's promoter. “It's not unachievable.”
The participants will take a lie detector test prior to competing, and the winners will be drug tested after the competition to confirm they achieved their look naturally.
The winners will receive their “pro card,” which means they can compete professionally and win money at other bodybuilding events.
Saturday's Pro Qualifier is a North American Natural Bodybuilding Federation event.
The Orpheum Theater will host the competition for the first time. Shain said about half the bodybuilders competing are from the Omaha area or Council Bluffs.
