A makeshift memorial had been set up Monday outside the apartment building where a 16-year-old Omaha South student was fatally shot.
Teddy bears, balloons and signs adorned the front porch of 2924 N. 21st St., where, police say, Montrell Wiseman died early Sunday.
“Peace be with you, big bro,” someone wrote on poster board attached to the brick building.
Another message read: “Rest in paradise, Trell. OMG!! I love you, dude.”
Wiseman had played basketball as a sophomore at South.
Desjuha Wilkinson, 16, also was shot at the apartment building. She was taken by ambulance to Creighton University Medical Center with injuries that did not appear to be life threatening, police said.
The homicide unit is investigating.
