LINCOLN — Sophomore Blake Headley hit a three-run triple in the first inning of Nebraska’s final fall scrimmage Thursday evening, helping the Red team avoid a series sweep with a 7-4 win in six innings at Haymarket Park.
The Red team scored five times in the first off sophomore lefty Kyle Kubat, who allowed five hits in three innings. Redshirt freshman infielder Taylor Fish and senior outfielder Rich Sanguinetti each had two hits for the Red squad.
Junior left-hander Tyler King, who started for the Red, managed to hold on to the lead, though each starter in the White lineup had at least one hit. King gave up one earned run over four innings, surrendering five hits.
Junior outfielder Michael Pritchard blasted a two-run home run in the sixth inning for the White team, who won the Huskers’ first two scrimmages on Tuesday and Wednesday.
