DES MOINES — A Des Moines doctor who is suspected of prescribing large amounts of narcotic painkillers to people who fatally overdosed faces three new involuntary manslaughter charges.
Polk County prosecutors also dropped one of the eight counts filed against Dr. Daniel Baldi last month because the statute of limitations in a 2009 death had expired.
Defense attorney Guy Cook entered not guilty pleas on Baldi's behalf on Monday. The other deaths still being prosecuted include the 2010 overdose death of Paul Gray, a founder of the heavy metal band Slipknot. — AP
