Freshman Hannah Wampler was named Summit League offensive player of the week on Monday after her five-point weekend.
Wampler led the Mavericks to a pair of league road victories at South Dakota (3-2) and Kansas City (2-1).
In the win over the Coyotes, the Lincoln Southeast product scored her first collegiate goal in the third minute to give Omaha an early lead. With just 20 seconds remaining and the score tied 2-2, Wampler collected the ball during a scramble in the box and fired it home for the match-winner and her second goal of the game.
In Sunday’s win over the Kangaroos, Wampler assisted on the match-winner as her corner kick found the head of Jordyn Braun. For the week, Wampler had two goals, including a match-winner, and one assist for five points while having a hand in three of Omaha’s five goals.
Wampler is the first UNO women’s soccer player to earn a weekly award from The Summit League. The Mavericks, now with a 3-1 record in conference play, will take the week off before returning to action on Oct. 19 at Western Illinois.
