The Creighton volleyball team carried momentum from Friday night’s streak-snapping victory to defeat Bradley 25-11, 19-25, 25-17, 25-23 Saturday at Sokol Arena.
A night after CU ended Northern Iowa’s 59-match Missouri Valley Conference winning streak, Megan Bober led the Bluejays (15-3, 6-1 Valley) with 14 kills, 30 set assists and 13 digs.
Bober had six kills and seven assists in the opening set. Creighton fell behind 2-0 before a 10-1 run led by the serving of senior Brooke Boggs and freshman Melanie Jereb.
The Bluejays led 18-12 in the second set before Bradley rallied. Lea Sack, a freshman out of Lincoln Pius X, served a 10-0 run, part of the Braves’ 13-1 spurt in which Creighton committed nine attack errors.
Kelli Browning helped the Bluejays break a 11-11 tie in the third set with three blocks. Creighton built a 23-14 lead before the set ended with a Bradley service error.
The fourth set saw Kate Elman serve a 5-0 lead for Creighton. Bradley responded to take a 13-11 lead. An ace from the Braves’ Courtney Keefe tied it 23-23.
After a timeout, Browning and Michelle Sicner blocked Alise Tupuritis to get to match point. Amy Angelos’ attack went long and Creighton took the match.
Bober recorded her third straight triple-double against Bradley. Browning had 11 kills and Elman added 18 digs and three aces. The Bluejays finished with 14 blocks.
Bradley’s Lauren Zerante had a match-high 24 digs, and the Braves had 6 ½ blocks.
Creighton improved to 15-3 and remained first in the Valley at 6-1. Bradley fell to 6-12 and 0-7.
The Bluejays’ next match is Friday at Illinois State.
