Hospital auxiliary opens rummage sale
The big one begins today at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Arlington, Neb. The big one? It’s the 55th annual rummage sale put on by the Memorial Community Hospital Auxiliary in Blair, Neb.
There is no admission fee; food will be available for purchase. Items will be sold in every building on the fairgrounds. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. The last day is a bag sale: Buy a bag for $2 and whatever you fill it with is yours.
Proceeds will be used to purchase a portable, digital X-ray machine.
Parents can learn Internet safety free
Boys Town Pediatrics will host a free Internet Safety Panel from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Boys Town Headquarters, 14100 Crawford St. on the Boys Town Campus.
Experts will provide parents, caregivers and educators with current information on social networking, cyberbullying and Web gaming. The adults-only event will help attendees recognize online risks, learn Web safety tips and help identify potential warning signs in children.

Genealogy Lock-In coming to library
The Greater Omaha Genealogical Society and Omaha Public Library will host the fourth annual Genealogy Lock-In from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 28 at the W. Dale Clark Library, 215 S. 15th St.
Library staff and society members will help participants use the library’s genealogical references. Tours will be offered and refreshments will be served.
Participants are encouraged to bring laptops and flash drives, if desired, and a valid Omaha Public Library card. Those who are not residents of Douglas County should arrive before 6 p.m. to purchase a $2 guest pass if they plan to access Internet resources. Preregistration is required.
