LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A 23-year-old inmate has been given life in prison for killing a fellow prisoner at the Nebraska State Penitentiary in Lincoln.
Mohamed Abdulkadir was sentenced Thursday for the June 2011 stabbing death of Michael Grandon.
Abdulkadir also was given 15 to 25 years for use of a weapon to commit the felony. He'd been convicted in July.
Grandon had been imprisoned for the May 2007 murders of 38-year-old Lori Solie and her 5-year-old daughter, Tiara, of North Platte.
Abdulkadir originally was imprisoned for aiding and abetting second-degree murder and convictions on drug and robbery charges in the 2009 killing of a man in Grand Island.
Abdulkadir has signed papers that say he intends to appeal.
