A woman was taken by helicopter to Creighton University Medical Center this morning after a collision on Interstate 80 near Minden.
The Iowa State Patrol said Bonnie Irene Frowick, 69, of Des Moines was wearing her seat belt when the accident occurred about 8 a.m. and that likely saved her life.
Frowick was traveling the wrong way in the westbound lanes near the I-80 and Interstate 680 split, and an oncoming semitrailer was unable to avoid hitting her, the State Patrol said.
Daniel L. Rivas, 22, of Los Angeles, who was driving the semitrailer, was not injured.
The extent of Frowick's injuries was not immediately known.
Westbound lanes on I-80 were closed temporarily to allow the helicopter to land.
