»The East Stadium expansion project continues at Memorial Stadium. Entrance to East Stadium seating will be the same as in 2011. A set of steps has been built at the northeast corner at Gate 16. Construction will continue during the season so some areas will be off-limits. A large opening has been created in the middle of the East Stadium for fans to enter and then proceed to their gates.
»Star Tran will offer Big Red Express shuttle service to and from the stadium from sites around Lincoln. The service will run from Southeast Community College, 88th and O Streets; Holmes Park, 70th Street and Normal Boulevard; Gateway Mall, 61st and O Streets (buses load north of J.C. Penney); North Star High School, 5801 N. 33rd St.; SouthPointe Pavilions, 27th Street and Pine Lake Road (buses load on the south side of Von Maur); and a new location at Northwest 12th and West Bond streets (off Interstate 80 Exit 399).
Cost: $4 each way for adults and $1 for children age 12 and younger. For more information, call 402-476-1234 or visit startran.lincoln.ne.gov. Because of East Stadium construction, buses will drop off and pick up from a new location on R Street between 12th and 14th Streets.
»The Husker Nation Pavilion has moved to a slightly different location, with most activities taking place on the grass practice field northeast of the stadium. The pavilion will open three hours before kickoff and provide free family activities, music, autograph signings and appearances by current and former athletes.

»Fans are asked to deposit plastic bottles and cups in marked recycling bins located near every trash receptacle. It's part of the “Big Red Go Green” recycling program
»Outside chairback seats are not be allowed in the stadium. An estimated 20,000 seats are available to rent for $5 each.
»Safety concerns can be texted to UNL Police. Text to 69050 with the keyword “UNLPD” and type in the complaint and the fan's location.
»Ticket holders are encouraged to travel light and to enter the gate number printed on their ticket. Those not carrying items subject to inspection (purses, fanny packs, camera bags and water bottles) can use express lanes.
»Tickets at all gates will be scanned with an optical reader. If a fan chooses to leave the stadium, their ticket must be scanned for re-entry. No re-entry is allowed after the start of the fourth quarter.
»Highway conditions and a brief weather report can be obtained by calling 511 or at www.nebraskatransportation.org.
Other stadium policies
»Memorial Stadium gates open 90 minutes prior to kickoff.
»The stadium is a nonsmoking area.
»Prohibited items: Guns, knives, glass, cans, coolers, beverage containers, video cameras, umbrellas, pets and backpacks.
»Alcohol: Alcoholic beverages are not allowed in the stadium. Consumption of alcohol is prohibited in city and university parking lots and property.
»The throwing of any object in the stadium is prohibited. Any person throwing an object is subject to removal. Rules allow game officials to penalize the home team if objects are thrown onto the playing field.
Parking and traffic policies
»Most parking lots on the UNL City Campus are reserved for those who have paid reservations on game days. Paid public parking on City Campus is available at $15 per stall at the parking garage at 17th and R Streets.
»Parking for people with disabilities is available for $15 per vehicle on a first-come, first-served basis in Booster Lots 5 and 9 on the south side of Salt Creek Roadway between Stadium Drive and 14th Street northeast of Memorial Stadium. Lots 5 and 9 have free cart shuttle service to the stadium. Shuttle buses will also run from the 17th and R Streets garage for those with disabilities. The west bus will drop fans at the northwest corner of the stadium. The east bus will drop fans off at 14th and Vine Streets, where shuttle carts will be available.
»Stadium Drive, the street on the west side of the stadium, will be closed on game days.
»The taxi cab drop off/pick up location will be at the corner of 14th and Vine streets east of the stadium. Other passenger drop-off and pick-up will not be allowed in front of the stadium before or after games. The recommended drop-off location is 12th and R Streets.
Traffic to and from Lincoln
As fans make their way to Memorial Stadium for Saturday's opener, many will be slowed by road construction. According to the Nebraska Department of Roads, contractors will minimize lane closures on home game weekends. Travelers should take notice of message boards posted to direct traffic leaving Lincoln after the game. The major areas to be aware of:
»The eastbound I-80 entrance ramp at the Waverly interchange (exit 409) will close at halftime of each home game. Traffic will be directed to continue east on Nebraska Highway 6. »The northbound I-180 entrance ramp from Superior Street will close after each game.
»I-80 between the Giltner and Aurora exits: Bridge work will require lane closures with a speed reduction that may be in place during home game weekends. »I-80 between the Kearney and Minden exits: Traffic will be head to head with a speed reduction due to work on a new interchange and an existing viaduct removal operation. »Highway 34 between Grand Island and Aurora: Asphalt work is in progress, watch for milled surfaces. Traffic may be controlled by flaggers on game days.
