An Omaha woman accused of killing her pregnant passenger in a car crash has changed her plea to no contest.
Tamika N. Brown, 27, is charged with motor vehicle homicide and motor vehicle homicide of an unborn child in the April 28 accident at 50th and Decatur Streets.
She had initially pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charges.
Police said Brown ran a stop sign at the intersection as she raced to a hospital after her son was struck by a vehicle.
Brown allegedly drove into the path of a taxi. The impact killed her front-seat passenger, Delaine T. Harris, 27, who was three months pregnant.
Brown changed her plea this week. She faces a maximum penalty of up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000 on each charge.
