Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle is hoping to be released today from a hospital in Ireland.
The 68-year-old mayor was on an economic tour of Europe last week when he became ill and checked himself in at a hospital in Naas, Ireland.
Suttle spokeswoman Aida Amoura said Sunday that doctors might release him today. After Suttle returns, his regular physician will give him a checkup.
Suttle was admitted to Naas General Hospital, which is less than an hour's drive southeast of Dublin. Naas is one of Omaha's sister cities.
He was at his hotel when he began to feel ill. His blood pressure was a bit high, and doctors wanted to stabilize it before releasing him.
Suttle spent much of last week in Lithuania, Germany and Ireland on an economic development tour where Omaha has sister cities.
He had been scheduled to return to Omaha on Sunday.
