Omaha's second cash mob will take place Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Candy Wrappers, a locally-owned candy store in Westwood Plaza near 123rd Street and West Center Road.
“Mobsters” will meet at the store to do three things: “spend between $10 and $20 at the local business, meet three new people, and have fun.”
The event is the second cash mob arranged for the Omaha Local Independent Business Alliance's Independents Days' “Where's Waldo” promotion. OLIBA's first cash mob was held at The Bookworm on June 27.
Hundreds of cash mobs have been held around the country in the past year. They're similar to flash mobs, where dozens or hundreds of people linked via social media show up at a designated time and place and sing, dance or carry out some other common task.
