Omaha defense attorney Randy Paragas pleaded not guilty this week to drunken driving and four other charges related to a one-vehicle accident in Washington County.
Sheriff Mike Robinson said Paragas, 52, was ticketed April 7 on suspicion of driving under the influence. The sheriff said the attorney's blood-alcohol level was .186, more than twice the legal limit.
Paragas also is charged with obstruction, false reporting, no valid registration and leaving the scene of an accident.
Deputies said Paragas' Chevrolet Corvette crashed into a tree. The Corvette, with license plates “NOTGLTY,” was spotted about 2:15 a.m., Robinson said.
Paragas was found 10 minutes later, walking in a field about 200 yards from the wreck.
Deputies described Paragas as uncooperative when they tried to determine if anyone had been in the car with him.
Paragas, who specializes in DUI cases, was found guilty of drunken driving in 2009.
