The debate has begun.
That is, the debate about debates — when and where and how often Democrat Bob Kerrey and Republican Deb Fischer will face off before the U.S. Senate election in November.
Kerrey already has accepted an invitation to a debate sponsored by the American Legion Cornhusker Boys State and Girls State. But Fischer is busy on June 5, when the debate had been scheduled.
It could be rescheduled.
“We'd like to pull this off if we could,” said organizer Burdette Burkhart.
Fischer's campaign manager noted that there will be “ample opportunity” for debates. — Roseann Moring
