Joe Ricketts is hoping to make a last-minute impact in the U.S. Senate race. Can he carry Deb Fischer over the line?
Ricketts, the former Omaha businessman and founder of what is now TD Ameritrade, took sides in the Nebraska race this weekend.
For those who don't know, Ricketts is the father of Pete Ricketts, the Republican Senate candidate who lost to Democratic U.S. Sen. Ben Nelson in 2006. He's also an owner of the Chicago Cubs.
Ricketts' political committee — known as Ending Spending — purchased $199,000 worth of television advertisements.
A majority of the advertising time was purchased in the Omaha and Lincoln markets.
