Bellevue Police Chief John Stacey has been placed on administrative leave.
City Administrator Dan Berlowitz said Wednesday that Stacey was on leave pending an investigation into a personnel matter. He declined to elaborate.
Capt. Mark Elbert said he has been appointed acting police chief by Berlowitz.
Councilwoman Carol Blood said the City Council had not yet received information on the situation.
Stacey has been with the Bellevue Police Department for more than 30 years. He also was a longtime volunteer with the Bellevue Fire Department, including 14 years as chief.
