Dozens of Douglas and Sarpy County teens celebrated Presidents Day weekend with illegal libations.
Omaha police cited 43 underage drinkers at a west Omaha house party Monday night, while Sarpy County sheriff's deputies busted 18 teens at a boozy bash Saturday night. All 61 teens were ticketed on suspicion of minor in possession of alcohol.
An eagle-eyed neighbor helped break up the underage drinking party in Omaha near 110th and Jones Streets. Police said the 16-year-old resident of the house was ticketed on suspicion of procuring alcohol for a minor, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and possession of marijuana of less than an ounce.
The teenage host of the Sarpy County party also was ticketed on suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Deputies responded to the home near South 66th Street and Cornhusker Road about 11:30 Saturday night after a noise complaint from nearby residents.
Sarpy County Sheriff's Capt. Monty Daganaar said Wednesday that deputies continue to investigate who procured the alcohol.
“In reality, this kind of stuff goes on year-round,” Daganaar said. “It's an ongoing problem.”
