DINING NOTES

New Shuck's opens doors

« Go

Shuck's Fish House and Oyster Bar's newest location, in the old Dixie Quicks off 20th and Leavenworth streets, is open for business.

Shuck's, one of the restaurants run by Absolutely Fresh Seafood, serves po' boys, chowder, fish and chips and a wide selection of oysters.
Owner Greg Lindberg said the menu will be similar to the two other Shuck's locations, which are at 16901 Wright Plaza, in the Shops of Legacy, and 1218 S. 119th St., one block south of 119th and Pacific.

The phone number at the new Shuck's is 402-614-5544.

New farmer's market mid-week in midtown

This summer, midtown Omaha will have its own mid-week farmer's market.

Wohlner's Grocery is behind the new Mid Week Market at Midtown Crossing, which will take place every Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. beginning June 6 and continuing through Aug. 8.

Local farmers and producers will set up in the parking garage attached to Wohlner's Midtown Crossing, at 33rd and Dodge.

Wohlner's owner Mike Schwartz is working with Lori Tatreau, a local food project manager with Western Hills Resources, to run the market. Tatreau worked to plan the outdoor Emerging Terrain grain elevator dinner in 2010, part of the Stored Potential public art project.

Clayton Chapman, owner/chef at the Grey Plume, also in Midtown Crossing, said he's excited to have a local market right down the street from his restaurant.

For more information about the market, contact Molly Skold at 402-598-9676.
