COUNCIL BLUFFS — A woman who was found in a Council Bluffs sewer Sunday was taken to a hospital in critical condition, suffering from hypothermia, police said. The woman was later identified as Melissa Ramirez, 24.

The woman said she had been in the sewer about 24 hours after she had been walking along a retaining wall and fell into a sewer opening.

Rescuers found her about 4:45 p.m. Sunday. She told them she had been walking Saturday on the retaining wall in the 500 block of North Sixth Street when she fell.
