Weigh in: Do you need to be fit for fame?

When it comes to health, thin and fit don't always go together, and neither do fat and unhealthy.

People of normal weight can have diabetes, high blood pressure and cardiovascular problems just like those who are overweight, although added pounds are risk factors in all three cases. There has, in fact, been considerable back and forth on the subject in recent years.

Last summer, researchers found that obese people who are otherwise healthy live just as long as their slim counterparts.

The World-Herald's Rainbow Rowell took on a similar topic in her Sunday column. She says overweight people are not represented fairly on TV. In real life, you can be fat and happy, even healthy, she writes.
