Fish frys
The Gretna Fire Department fish fry is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, at the Gretna American Legion.
It is a fundraiser for the Gretna Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.
Macaroni and cheese will also be available.
Cost is $8.50 for adults, $3.50 for children ages 12 and younger and free for those ages 2 and younger.
The Gretna American Legion fish fry will put on the next fish fry. It is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on is Friday, Feb. 17.
Fun fundraiser
A fundraiser for The Little Giants Foundation is from 6 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, in Springfield at the Sarpy County Fairgrounds with music, raffles and food.
The Little Giants Foundation is a non-profit organization supporting rare dwarfism research. One person with such a diagnosis is 8-year-old Emily Koesters of Gretna.
She endures one of the rarest forms of dwarfism called Schimke Immuno-osseous Dysplacia.
The rock band, The Godz, will play from 8 to 10 p.m. A buffet of food from a variety of different restaurants will be set out.
People can also buy raffle tickets to win an autographed guitar by country singer Garth Brooks or a Trisha Yearwood cookbook. They can also participate in a silent auction that will have more than 20 items. Items include a hat signed by Coach Bo Pelini, 89.7 The River package and Ben Folds autorgraph and many gift certificates.
Library news
A youth movie get-together is at noon on Saturday in the Gretna City Hall basement. Those youths in grades six to 12 are invited to watch the new Smurfs movie.
Free snacks and refreshments will be available. Youths are welcome to invite friends and classmates.
The Teen Advisory Board meeting is at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at the library. They will discuss upcoming events, changes to the teen area, adding to the collection and more. They will also make a sweet treat in celebration of Valentine's Day.
