CHADRON, Neb. (AP) — Chadron State College’s Foundation has received a roughly $700,000 gift from the estate of a couple who graduated from the northwest Nebraska school in the 1960s.
Foundation executive director Connie Rasmussen said the gift from Ralph and Judith Hale will be added to an endowment that generates money for scholarships.
The Hales met while studying education at Chadron State. The school said they were both good students and were involved in many organizations.
They both taught at Hyannis High School for two years before moving to Las Vegas. Judith Hale taught English and journalism in Las Vegas for 27 years, and Ralph Hale worked as a photographer.
Judith Hale died last May, about seven years after her husband.
