Two women died Friday in a one-car wreck near Emerson, Iowa.
Gladys Bowen, 78, of Imogene was eastbound in a 1999 Lincoln Town Car on Old Highway 34, the Iowa State Patrol said. Hazel Hinkle, 87, of Emerson was a passenger in the vehicle.
Bowen lost control of the car and slid into the ditch on the north side of the road. The car then slammed into a concrete culvert and creek bank.
Both women were ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene. Neither was wearing a seatbelt.
It’s unclear why Bowen lost control of the vehicle, the State Patrol said, and at what time the accident occurred.
