IOWA CITY — Junior Jaime Printy will miss the rest of the season after an MRI exam Friday morning confirmed that the guard suffered a torn ACL in her left knee during Iowa's 85-79 overtime win at Wisconsin.
This is the second injury to Printy's left ACL. She tore the same ligament as a sophomore in high school.
"We are extremely disappointed to lose Jaime for the rest of the season," coach Lisa Bluder said. "It's very unfortunate that she has to go through another ACL injury. Jaime is one of the elite players in our conference, and it's tough to see this type of injury happen to such a great individual."
The Marion, Iowa, native leads Iowa in scoring at 16.9 points per game (16.5 points per game in Big Ten play). She's second in the Big Ten and 12th nationally with an 88.8 free-throw percentage. Printy also ranks sixth in assists (4.2), seventh in 3-pointers made per game (2.0) and is tied for eighth in steals (2.0).
Printy ranks 10th in career scoring at Iowa (1,409), third in career 3-pointers made (197) and sixth in assists (304).
"It feels like our team is really hitting its stride right now and it's going to be really hard to watch the rest of the season from the bench," Printy said. "But, I'm ready to help the team in any way I can from the sidelines and am looking forward to watching my teammates continue to play well."
Printy will have surgery within the next two weeks.
