Sharing the wealth Sunday proved successful for the Lancers.

Six players scored goals and 15 of Omaha's 18 skaters scored at least one point as the Lancers rolled to a 6-2 USHL victory against the Fargo Force.

The win in front 2,793 at the Civic Auditorium came against the hottest team in the league. Fargo had won 10 of 11 games, including six consecutive road games.

As they did in Saturday's 4-0 road win at Des Moines, the Lancers scored first against Fargo. That proved to be an important spark in both games because the first period has been the Lancers' least productive of the season.

Omaha's 31st first-period goal in 37 games came when Max Vallis knocked in a rebound of Anthony Hamburg's shot that bounced off Fargo goaltender Zane Gothberg's pads.

"When you get the first goal, you get that confidence that can make the rest of the game just a little bit easier," Lancers coach Mike Aikens said. "You can play smarter and safer, and the other team has to start taking chances and press a little harder to score."

The Lancers (23-12-2), who now have a four-point lead on second-place Lincoln in the Western Conference, created some additional breathing room with a pair of goals in the first half of the second period.

Defenseman Nolan Zajac scored his sixth career goal before Kevin Schulze scored the first of his USHL career.

Fargo (19-15-3) cut the lead to two 1:56 before the second intermission.

"We didn't play with the energy and emotion we would have liked there for awhile," Aikens said. "So I had a little tantrum in the locker room after the second period. I just felt we were in a danger zone and we really dodged some bullets in the second period."

The Lancers listened and eventually had their most productive period of the game.

Jimmy Murray doused any hope of a comeback by his former team by scoring his 10th goal of the season on an assist from Greg Gozzo.

The Lancers will travel to Fargo Friday for a rematch then visit Sioux City Saturday.
