Nate Meier of Fremont-Mills made a verbal commitment on Sunday to accept a football scholarship offer from the University of Iowa.
The 6-foot-2, 235-pound two-way starter led the Knights to their first Eight-Man state football championship last fall while rushing for 2,494 yards and 57 touchdowns. He also recorded 112 total tackles, including 34 for losses, on defense.
Meier will be the first male athlete from F-M to be a Division I scholarship athlete since 1969 graduate Barry Anderson, who played baseball at Missouri.
