Morrill man pleads to molestation

World-Herald News Service

SCOTTSBLUFF — A Morrill man accused of sexually assaulting two girls will not contest the charges as part of a plea agreement.

Alejandro Saucedo, also known as Alex Saucedo, 53, of Morrill entered a plea of no contest to charges of first-degree sexual assault of a minor and third-degree sexual assault of a child in Scotts Bluff County District Court on Friday, Scotts Bluff County Attorney Doug Warner said.

Saucedo had been charged with first-degree sexual assault on a child less than 12 years of age and first-degree sexual assault on a minor.

Earlier this week, Scotts Bluff County Judge Leo Dobrovolny denied a motion by Saucedo seeking to have evidence in the case suppressed, including an interview with a Nebraska State Patrol investigator in which Saucedo allegedly confessed to having assaulted two girls.

Dobrovolny ruled that Saucedo had been advised of his rights to remain silent. Although a Nebraska State Patrol investigator accused Saucedo of lying, there was no evidence of threats, promises or improper inducements.

The Nebraska State Patrol arrested Saucedo in September after two girls accused Saucedo of having sexually assaulted them for at least seven years. The victims in the case were identified as 14-year-old and 16-year-old females.
