Nebraska state troopers have captured both men after a high-speed chase Friday night in which a patrol car was fired upon.
One man was located by the pilot of a State Patrol helicopter using infrared technology. Aleksandr Voznyuk, 22, of Sioux Falls, S.D., was taken into custody and placed in the Buffalo County Detention Center.
The second, Petr Strizheus, 18, of Harrisburg, S.D., was captured without incident about noon Saturday at the public library in Minden, Neb.
The State Patrol reported that a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed near Odessa, Neb., failed Friday to stop for a trooper about 10:30 p.m.
A pursuit ensued and the vehicle exited Interstate 80 at the Kearney exit. Several shots were fired from the vehicle at the trooper's patrol car, striking it at least once, the State Patrol reported.
The men drove through Minden and turned north on State Highway 10.
The car chase ended north of the Fort Kearny Feedlot when the vehicle went into a ditch. The occupants fled and a perimeter was established by officers.
No law officers were injured in the pursuit, which lasted approximately 20 minutes and reached speeds in excess of 100 mph. Voznyuk was treated for a canine bite.
Neither suspect was armed when arrested.
