WAYNE, Neb. — Wayne Police Chief Lance Webster and Lt. Phil Shear, who were fired in April, are appealing the Wayne Civil Service Commission's decision to uphold their firings.
Following a five-day hearing that concluded in early November, the commission voted 3-0 on Dec. 16 to uphold the termination.
According to court records, both appeals were filed last week in Wayne County District Court.
Among other things, the appeals state that the commission's conclusion was not supported by the evidence.
Both officers are seeking to be reinstated with back pay, among other things, according to court documents.
