NEBRASKA CITY (AP) — About 70 people have lost their jobs at a meter manufacturing plant in southeast Nebraska.
Elster American Meter said it has eliminated the third shift at its Nebraska City plant because of a drop in product demand.
After the layoffs, the plant still employs 540 people, spokeswoman Noreen Pratscher said.
Elster American Meter is a subsidiary of the Elster Group, based in Essen, Germany.
