A 21-year-old Harlan, Iowa, man was killed Tuesday evening after falling from a tree stand while bow hunting in Monona County.
Corey Custer, 21, had been hunting deer southeast of Onawa, a news release from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources said. He was leaving the stand about 7 p.m. when he fell about 18-23 feet. Custer suffered head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Onawa is located about 62 miles north of Omaha.
